Washington Square
This bathroom’s radically rational layout and largely invisible hardware create a space that is both elegantly minimal and warmly sensual. The project consolidates two separate rooms—a bathroom and a detached toilet—into one unified space. A textured gray sandstone floor and backsplash contrast with the glossy white upper walls and ceiling. Natural light washes down the walls from two recessed skylights placed at either end of the room. Three westward-facing windows fill the room with a soft diffused glow during the day, while concealed lighting fixtures provide flexible lighting at night.
